Principal SRE — Release
Mercy

I'm a Principal SRE at Mercy, where I own release management and deployment orchestration across the enterprise application portfolio. The job is part platform engineering, part change management, part teaching IT systems to behave like product engineering.

Before Mercy I led release work at Dapper Labs (GitHub Actions + GCP + Argo), spent four years at Mastercard onboarding teams and external customers onto AWS and Azure as a Principal Software Development Engineer, and grew up in operations at CenturyLink / Savvis — going from desktop support to building Kubernetes clusters across CenturyLink Cloud, AWS, and GCP. Fifteen-plus years of treating infrastructure as code, on-call as a craft, and reliability as a product.

Day to day I work in Terraform, Serverless Framework, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, and the AWS Lambda / DynamoDB / EventBridge corner of the stack. I care about CI/CD pipeline ownership, observability that actually pages on the right thing, and shrinking the gap between "merged" and "in production."

On the side, I build and operate WhiteCliff Studio — a self-funded production stack supporting a small home-decor e-commerce operation. Roughly 110 Lambda functions across three Serverless Framework repos, three independent CloudFormation stacks (split to live under the 500-resource per-stack limit), a React + TypeScript ops dashboard on S3 / CloudFront, a Python data pipeline pulling daily metrics from ~10 sources into DynamoDB, EventBridge-driven scheduled publishing, and Slack alerting via SNS. It's where I get to make every architectural decision myself, on real production traffic, with my own money on the line.

This site is where I share what I'm learning at the intersection of release engineering, operational automation, and AI as a primitive inside the operations stack.
